Houston Middle School Featured on Daytime Buffalo for Polar Plunge Fundraiser

The Cool Runnings team from William G. Houston Middle School took to the airwaves this week, appearing on WIVB’s Daytime Buffalo with reporter Chelsea Lovell to talk about their upcoming participation in the 2025 Buffalo Cool School Polar Plunge.
Teacher Mr. Tim Smelser and members of the National Junior Honor Society shared how they’re raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics New York, supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities through year-round sports, training, and competition—all at no cost to athletes or their families.
The Houston Middle School team will take the plunge at Woodlawn Beach on Friday, December 5 at noon as part of the statewide Freezin’ for a Reason initiative.
