Houston Students Perform Smoke Dance During Perry Ground Visit

Houston Middle School welcomed Haudenosaunee storyteller Perry Ground last week for an engaging and interactive cultural presentation. Students learned about the traditions, meaning, and history behind Haudenosaunee stories through Perry’s high-energy storytelling style.
Following the presentation, a group of Houston students stepped forward to perform a Smoke Dance. They were supported by two Lake Shore High School volunteers, Caias John and Worthy Jimerson, who helped guide and encourage the dancers. The performance highlighted student talent and cultural pride, creating a meaningful moment for everyone in attendance.
