Mid-Summer Update
Dear Houston Middle School Families,
We hope you are enjoying a restful and enjoyable summer break! As we gear up for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, we have important updates and reminders to share to ensure a smooth transition for all students.
Student schedules are anticipated to arrive in your mailboxes mid-August. Please review these with your child to ensure they are prepared for the first day of school. If you have questions regarding your child's schedule, please contact our counseling center.
Ensuring students have the necessary tools for success is a priority. Please refer to the school website for the comprehensive supply lists for each grade level.
We are excited to welcome our new Eagles! Orientation for 6th graders and students new to the district will be held on September 1, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. at WGH MS. Please bring your school supplies to organize your locker.
Registration for the Fall Athletic Season is opening throughout July and August. Please ensure all physicals and paperwork for students are submitted via ArbiterSports by these dates:
| Date | Sport |
|---|---|
| 7/17 | JV/Varsity Football |
| 7/24 | Other JV/Varsity Sports |
| 7/27 | Modified Football |

The Parent Booster Club is a vital part of our school community. We invite you to join us for our first meeting on September 22, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Stay connected via the "LSMS Parent Boosters" Facebook page for ongoing updates.
Consistent attendance is crucial for academic success and building strong relationships within our school. "Attendance Counts" at WGH MS, and our counselors are available if your family needs support or resources to help your child attend school regularly.
- Electronic Devices: Cell phones and other personal electronic devices are not permitted for use during school hours. They must remain off and locked in student lockers.
- Dress Code: Students are expected to dress appropriately for a learning environment. Examples of unacceptable dress include head coverings, midriff or bareback shirts, "spaghetti straps," and clothing promoting drugs or alcohol. Undergarments should not be visible.
- Chromebook Damages: The Code of Conduct and the Acceptable Use policy has been updated with financial penalties for damaging school issued chromebooks. Please encourage your children to make sure they are taking great care of the devices they are issued.
